Practice Focus

Jolie represents individuals charged with violent crimes, drug offenses, sex crimes, weapons charges, DUI, domestic violence, fraud, and federal criminal cases. She also handles record sealing, sex offender deregistration, firearm rights restoration, pardon applications, and victim’s rights representation.

Her work begins before charges are filed: advising clients during investigations, negotiating with prosecutors before indictment, and building defense strategies from the earliest possible moment. When a case goes to trial, she has the courtroom experience to back it up.

Trial Record

Between 2004 and 2023, Jolie tried 48 cases: 20 felony trials and 20 misdemeanor trials, with 18 acquittals and 11 mixed verdicts. Her trial experience spans every major area of criminal defense:

  • Assault-related charges: 19 trials
  • Weapons offenses: 10 trials
  • Sex offenses: 8 trials
  • Theft and burglary: 8 trials

Four of her trials resulted in hung juries, cases where the prosecution could not convince a single jury to convict.

Background

Jolie spent seven years as a Colorado State Public Defender (2002 to 2009), handling research, motions, and jury trials for clients who couldn’t afford private counsel. That experience shaped her approach to defense: thorough preparation, aggressive motion practice, and a commitment to fighting for every client regardless of the charges.

In 2009, she founded her private practice, now Masterson Hall, bringing the same intensity and preparation to clients who seek her out for the most difficult cases.

Federal Practice

Jolie has practiced in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado since 2011. She serves as appointed counsel under the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel, representing defendants in federal cases including drug trafficking, conspiracy, and firearms offenses.

CJA Selection Committee Chair

In 2024, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado named Jolie Chair of the Criminal Justice Act Selection Committee. This committee decides which attorneys are qualified to represent defendants in federal criminal cases. The appointment reflects the federal court’s confidence in her ability, judgment, and integrity. She also serves on the CJA Standing Committee (2023 to present).
